Subaccounts

Why use subaccounts? #

Subaccounts allow you to separate trading activities under one main exchange account. This helps keep strategies, risk, and balances clearly organized.

Typical ways traders use subaccounts #

  • Different strategies
Example: one subaccount for manual trading, another for automated execution with Orderly.
  • Different markets
Example: BTC/USD in one subaccount, altcoin trading in another.
  • Risk separation
Allocate specific capital to a strategy so losses or experiments cannot affect the rest of your funds.
  • Testing vs. production
Use a dedicated subaccount to test new configurations before running them with larger capital.

How Orderly benefits #

Using subaccounts lets you run multiple independent setups without interfering with each other. Each subaccount can have its own balances, open orders, and configuration.
